This may be the most basic and common leash that exists today, but it also remains one of the best. Black leather dog leashes are indeed classic. Their defining characteristics include their strength and durability, as well as their command of attention. I like using a leather leash so much more than a nylon leash because they look great and you know they are reliable and sturdy. They have so many common applications, and are typically the leash of choice for handlers of working dogs, such as police dogs, military dogs, and in professional dog training academies.
Leather leashes seem to be of much higher quality than their nylon counterparts most times as well. Some nylon leashes have worn out with use in only a year, whereas leather leashes have lasted my dogs a lifetime. They are not very complex; traditionally they just have a looped handle at the end and a hook at the other end to attach to the collar. But they are made to last. The quality stitching and craftsman ship ensures that they are going to hold.

Although they are typically very solid, you can find some cheaply made leather dog leashes as well, so beware of these imitations! Do your homework and find one that you can trust from a reliable source. It will be a great investment for you and your dog for a long time.

Having a dog is not just owning a pet. Most people develop a very special bond with their canine companion, and treat them as if they were a child, especially if they do not have kids of their own. We spoil our pets, right down to the type of food they eat. And although many dog leashes and other accessories were made to help make training our pets easier, their use is not limited to just obedience. As I describe below, they can serve a variety of purposes from teaching to fashion to health and safety.
Choke Chain/Slip Chain. Used primarily for maintaining control ove
r your dog during training exercises. It is made of several metal links which form a collar that tightens as your dog strains to pull away from you. Dog leashes are attached to the end of a larger link on the end. This can be very useful in training because it is a form of punishment when the dog lunges away quickly. The dog receives a firm tug around the neck, hopefully teaching him not to do that again. This method should be used with positive reinforcement and incentives as well. Training your dog solely by punishing him when he does something bad is not an effective way.
Flea Collars. Serve a completely different purpose from most. In a couple words, they prevent your dog from getting fleas by unleashing flea repelling chemicals. Sometimes they work well and sometimes they do not. I would recommend always using a flea collar because it is better to be safe than sorry, they are pretty inexpensive and only need to be replaced about once every six months.
Normal Collars. These are the normal nylon or leather collars that wrap around a dog’s neck. They are used to hold ID tags, as well as to connect a leash when you are walking your dog, or attaching him to a runner if you would like to leave him out in the yard. It is very important for your dog to have one of these because if your dog gets lost the license tags on their neck are often the only way for them to be reunited with you. Also, they come in a variety of sizes, colors, patterns, and styles, so you can definitely find one that matches your dog’s personality and stature.

I’m always on the lookout for cool pet products such as new dog leashes and toys, and I recently found something I think is very unique. It is called the Bun-Gee Pup-EE, and it was invented by Robert M. Summers. Picture this: you are walking your dog down the sidewalk, just as you do every day, and he sees a cat crossing about 50 feet in front of you. What does he do? Well, if he is well trained, he will just let it meander on by. However, most dogs will see the cat before you can do anything about it. They will jerk the leash and pull your arm any which way.

This is exactly what happened to Mr. Summers, according to http://www.theakotagroup.com. He was spun around when his dog darted at a cat, and he ended up slipping on the ice, breaking his teeth, and dislocating his shoulder. If you are worried this may happen to you, or you just think this new leash invention is a cool idea, you should definitely check it out.

You might ask yourself, “how can someone start an entire site about dog leashes?” The answer is, “they can’t!” This site is so much more than it’s name implies. It’s actually about a whole range of dog products, including collars, brushes, toys, food, biscuits, and more! It’s a place for you to find some great information and some great things you can buy for your dogs. Tell some stories about your pets or some products that you particularly enjoy, and I’ll share some of my own.
The site is filled with content that you may find valuable if you are an animal lover. Mostly it’s here as a resource for you to be able to find cool things for your dog. What could be greater than that? If you can come up with a site all about that nobody else has though of then go for it!

There are a lot of cool dog leashes out there. Some are made of nylon, some are leather, and some are made of a material that I’m not really sure what it is. They come in different colors, such as blue, black, red, pink, and green dog leashes, and you can almost always find a dog collar to match!
They have some really cool leashes and collars listed online at Petco and other retailers. They also have a range of other products that include nylon and adjustable collars, retractable leashes, nylon harnesses, muzzles, dog whistles, and safety lights. I’ve never used safety lights on my dog, but that would probably be funny to watch in the dark.
I used to have this plain green leash and my dog wore a regular black collar around the house and when we went outside. When we were training him, we got him one of the metal chain collars which are intended to choke the dog a little if they pull too hard. I don’t think these work too well because dogs just pull harder and harder, and usually just end up breathing heavier and drooling more. I think dog training is all about persistence and hard work, and rewarding your dog with a dog treat or biscuit when he does something right. I don’t think punishment works as well in my experience, but a combination of the two works OK.
